I'm Psychologically Unemployable. Here's What That Means.
Being psychologically unemployable means you're just not wired to work for someone else. It doesn't mean you're lazy, and it doesn't mean you can't hold a job. You can. You just can't shake the feeling that you're handing your best hours and your best energy to somebody else's dream.
I know, because that's me. I believe I'm psychologically unemployable. And I've finally stopped seeing that as something wrong with me.
If you've ever sat in your car before a shift, dreading the walk inside, this one is for you.
What being psychologically unemployable actually feels like
For years I punched a time clock day in and day out. I showed up, did the work, and went home with less energy than I left with. The paycheck came, but it never felt like enough to get ahead, and it never felt like a life.
Maybe some of this sounds familiar:
You dread Monday every single week.
You watch the clock more than you watch your kids grow up.
You ask permission to take time off from your own life.
You know there's a ceiling, and you can already see it from where you're standing.
Deep down, you know you were never meant to do this forever.
That last one is the big one. It's not a bad day or a bad boss. It's a feeling that doesn't go away no matter which job you're in.
It's a sign, not a flaw
For a long time I thought something was off with me. Everyone else seemed fine going to work, so why couldn't I just accept it?
Here's what I believe now: that feeling is information. It's telling you that you want more than what society says you should settle for. I'm proud that I think differently, and thinking differently has served me well. The people who feel trapped in a job aren't broken. Most of them just haven't found the right way out yet.
Why I didn't leave sooner
I'll be honest. I'm not a tech person. I tried a few home business ideas before, and so much of it felt too complicated. Build this, set up that, learn some software I didn't understand. I'd get overwhelmed, second-guess myself, and end up right back where I started.
If I could go back, I'd tell myself to start a home business earlier and stick with it. I wish I had believed in myself more. But I also know now that the problem wasn't me. The problem was trying to do it the hard way.
What changed for me
I was looking for something I could do from home, alongside my job, without it eating every free hour I had. That's when I came across the Home Business Academy.
I looked at it, thought about it for a day, and decided this was exactly what I'd been looking for. The products, the support, and the commission structure all made sense to me. But what really made me say "this is different" was the people behind it. I've known Mike and Paul in this industry for years. I've seen how much heart and how many hours they've put into making this work for people like me, and I believe in them.
Most importantly, I don't need to know much about tech. The system comes with done-for-you pages and follow-up emails, plus a simple daily plan to follow. Therefore, I can spend my energy on taking action instead of figuring out how to build things.
How I'm building my way out without quitting first
I'm not telling you to walk out of your job tomorrow. That's not what I'm doing either. Here's the simple path I'm following:
1. Accept who you are. Stop fighting the feeling. If you're psychologically unemployable, own it.
2. Plug into a simple system. Use something that's already built, so you're not starting from zero after a long day at work.
3. Follow the daily plan. Small actions, every day, even when you're tired.
4. Build your exit one consistent day at a time. Not in one big leap. Day by day, alongside the job you want to leave.
What I'd tell you if you're feeling this right now
When I got started, I wish someone had told me this: get into the content as soon as possible, and don't let anything distract you. Stay consistent every single day, and stay as positive as you can.
The other thing I'm working on is to stop second-guessing myself. I've gotten so much better at it, but I know I can be better. When I stop second-guessing, I take action faster, and therefore I get more done in less time. That's the whole game.
Where I am right now
I'm not writing this from a beach after crossing the finish line. I'm in the middle of it, and that's exactly why I started this blog. I'm documenting every step: the wins, the doubts, and what I'd do differently.
My number one goal is financial freedom. I want my time back. I want to stop spending my days somewhere I resent just to get a paycheck. When I'm less stressed and have more energy, my husband and our two kids are better off, and when my family is happy, I'm happier. It's a cycle, and I want to be on the good side of it.
Right now I'm excited, hopeful for the first time in a while, and nervous but ready. I'm proud of myself for finally believing in me.
If this sounds like you
If you read this and thought "that's me," you're not alone, and you're not broken. You might just be psychologically unemployable too.
